چکیده

The adaptive high-gain output feedback strategy ( ) = ( ) ( ), ( ) ( ) = ( ) is well established in the context of linear, minimum-phase, -input -output systems ( , , ) with the property that spec( ) ; the strategy applied to any such linear system achieves the performance objectives of: 1) global attractivity of the zero state and 2) convergence of the adapting gain to a finite limit. Here, these results are generalized in three aspects. First, the class of systems is enlarged to a class ( ), encompassing nonlinear systems modeled by functional differential equations, where the parameter 0 quantifies system memory and the continuous function : [0 ) [0 ), with (0) = 0, relates to the allowable system nonlinearities. Second, the linear control law is replaced by ( ) = ( )[ ( ) + ( ( ) ) ( ) ] ( ), wherein the additional nonlinear term counteracts the system nonlinearities. Third, the quadratic adaptation law is replaced by the law ( ) ( ) = ( ( ) ), where the continuous function satisfies certain growth conditions determined by (in particular cases, e.g., linear systems, a bounded function is admissible). Performance objectives 1) and 2) above are shown to persist in the generalized framework.

Peaking Attenuation in High-Gain Observers Using Adaptive Saturation: Application to a Ball and Wheel System

Despite providing robustness, high-gain observers impose a peaking phenomenon, which may cause instability, on the system states. In this paper, an adaptive saturation is proposed to attenuate the undesirable mentioned phenomenon in high-gain observers. A real-valued and differentiable sigmoid function is considered as the saturating element whose parameters (height and slope) are adaptively tu...

Design of a Model Reference Adaptive Controller Using Modified MIT Rule for a Second Order System

Sometimes conventional feedback controllers may not perform well online because of the variation in process dynamics due to nonlinear actuators, changes in environmental conditions and variation in the character of the disturbances. To overcome the above problem, this paper deals with the designing of a controller for a second order system with Model Reference Adaptive Control (MRAC) scheme usi...

Sensorless Indirect Field Oriented Control of Single-sided Linear Induction Motor With a Novel Sliding Mode MRAS Speed Estimator

This paper proposes a new sliding mode control (SMC)  based model reference adaptive system (MRAS) for sensorless indirect field oriented control (IFOC) of a single-sided linear induction motor (SLIM). The operation of MRAS speed estimators dramatically depends on adaptation mechanism. Fixed-gain PI controller is conventionally used for this purpose which may fail to estimate the speed correctl...

Adaptive Fuzzy Dynamic Sliding Mode Control of Nonlinear Systems

Two phenomena can produce chattering: switching of input control signal and the large amplitude of this switching (switching gain). To remove the switching of input control signal, dynamic sliding mode control (DSMC) is used. In DSMC switching is removed due to the integrator which is placed before the plant. However, in DSMC the augmented system (system plus the integrator) is one dimension bi...

Influence of Adaptation Gain and Reference Model Parameters on System Performance for Model Reference Adaptive Control

This article presents a detailed analysis and comparative performance evaluation of model reference adaptive control systems. In contrast to classical control theory, adaptive control methods allow to deal with time-variant processes. Inspired by the works [1] and [2], two methods based on the MIT rule and Lyapunov rule are applied to a linear first order system. The system is simulated and it ...

Effect of Adaptation Gain in Model Reference Adaptive Controlled Second Order System

Adaptive control involves modifying the control law used by the controller to cope with the fact that the parameters of the system being controlled change drastically due to changes in environmental conditions or in system itself. This technique is based on the fundamental characteristic of adaptation of living organism. The adaptive control process is one that continuously and automatically me...
